Bike Tour 3rd Row – Day 2 – 16 June 2026

Springhill Suites is a good place to do some laundry; packing tip – remember quarters. Down for breakfast at 6:30 AM. Today is the Higgins Point ride and afternoon in Coeur d’Alene. The ride starts behind the hotel and down the hill to the Centennial Trail.

The trail follows the Spokane River and winds towards Lake Coeur d’Alene and downtown. Again, more construction is under way in the heart of the town.

The grass is a vibrant green, the Lake looks inviting (to some), and the trees are tall, mature and full. Some historic markers in the park and the downtown clock tower still standing tall.

There are 5 moose statues throughout downtown and our tour guide Cole tells us whoever finds all five and sends a picture to him first will get a prize. Russ takes a picture of the sign showing where the 5 statues are and sends it in. LOL! As for me, I saw three and only took a photo of two.

We ride through the town’s neighborhoods continuing on the trail to Higgins Point. Such a beautiful ride and a nice scenic stop for snacks!

Just before the end of the Higgins Point trail is a statue of Mr. Higgins. (A must stop as you will see in the links from 2021 and 2022 at the end of this post.)

There is a nice park at Higgins Point. We see an interesting structure built of wooden sticks. No one knows what it is all about, yet, definitely picture worthy.

Back in town, the hardiest souls hike up Tubbs Hill, while some of us have lunch at the Buoy outdoor restaurant accompanied by a beer. Today the wind is 20+ miles an hour, no opening those restaurant umbrellas.

After lunch, I ride the trail back to the Springhill Suites. I come across a Native American man and find Big Foot behind our hotel.

The afternoon is spent relaxing and writing this blog! Tonight dinner will be at The Bluebird Restaurant – fuel for tomorrow’s long ride.
