Brooklyn – May 21

Yesterday we enjoyed “The Gruffalo” show and so did all the children who were there. Some play time in the park with a jillion children – like the baby boomer childhood times before an Uber back to Brooklyn and then dinner at Rocco Tacos.

Today, our breakfast is with the girls and then we are back on the subway to Central Park. A tradition for us to walk the length of the park and then back again. The weather today is absolutely perfect for a stroll in the park – not too hot or humid with a light breeze. We pass along the usual sights – baseball park, turtle pond, various open fields and then the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir at the North end of the park.

Wandering back on the east side of the park, we make a stop at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. A mime is preparing herself with the white body paint right in front of the museum.

We wanted to see the rest of the exhibit we started at The Cloisters over two weeks ago. Beautiful dresses on display and also amazing pieces of clothing of the Popes on loan from the Vatican. This is a must see in New York ! No photos of the Vatican clothing

Always make a stop in the Egyptian area which is always amazing – especially The Temple of Dendur. A gift to the U.S. by Egypt in 1965 and installed at the Met in 1978.

Leaving the Met, we stroll through the park to the subway.

24,494 steps, 11.87 miles and 15 flights of stairs later we are arrive at our hotel to rest and relax before going out to dinner at the Colonie – one of our regular haunts.
