Last night the Santa Fe Opera’s performance of Rosalinda by Handel was amazing even if a bit strange. The stage was a room that rotated and the outer walls were painted black. When those were facing the audience, the artists performed in front of the black wall. The use of shadows and a door were creative. Maybe not the best description so I found a couple photos on FB to post below. The orchestra sounded perfect and the singers displayed their talents with the many arias in this opera. We had a great 3 hour and 10 minute experience! I’ll be coming back next year.

After breakfast and packing, we started our drive back to the Albuquerque airport with a couple of stops.

A visit to the Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is a nice educational experience to learn the history of air ballooning and the various other factors (weather, clouds, etc.) that impact air balloon travel. Worth a stop if you are in the area.

Next stop – the Center for Action and Contemplation started by Richard Rohr. Ann and I subscribe to the E-newsletter. While I had stopped here before, it was nice to stop again and see how they have built an addition onto their building.

Finally, I drove us along Route 66 – Central Avenue in Albuquerque to see what buildings might still be there from the movie we watched. Just a few are still there. So I went back to my 2002 Route 66 Road Trip photo file and found three of the places we saw with the photos taken at night with their neon signs. People (like me) are still getting their ‘kicks’ on Route 66.
