The dinner last night at Coyote Cafe was outstanding. A definite restaurant to experience when in Santa Fe. Love this glass chandelier🌶️ (not a Chihuly, but close). We came back last night and sat outside on our hotel rooftop deck. The evening temperatures are cool and the views are lovely.

Today, our morning is exploring a few places not walkable. First stop, The Cross of the Martyrs. Erected in memory of the priests that were killed during the Pueblo Revolt in 1680. This park includes information about Fort Marcy which was located in the 1840’s on the top of this hill overlooking downtown Santa Fe. A spectacular view of the mountains and hills and downtown is possible from this vantage point. Plaques about the history of the Fort and Santa Fe are here, too.

Our next touring destination is Canyon Road. We drove up the road but it was too early for anything to be open. Maybe a future visit to Santa Fe, wandering this road and visiting the many, many art galleries will be on the list.

Just outside of Santa Fe is The Santa Fe Opera House. During the day, not much is happening except the box office is open. Tonight and tomorrow Ann and I will be attending operas here. It is a good place to see without the opera crowds to have an idea of the building’s architecture plus the incredible views. Looking forward to tonight – Madame Butterfly!

As we start the drive back to Santa Fe, Ann googled for information about Tesuque Village, very close to the Opera House. Sounds fun and I have never been there. Truly a funky place! Worth a stop or even have some food at their diner. Wikipedia does an interesting job of describing this village. The general store has many items that the locals want/need plus some items for us tourists.

Back in Santa Fe, we have a delicious lunch and conversation at Santa Fe Cafe with our friend Doug. Doug led a Zoom book group that Ann and I belonged to for a while. He retired from Anna Maria Island to Santa Fe – both places are amazing just a very big difference in humidity!! The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and we enjoyed our lunch outdoors, warm yet breezy. We talked for over two hours and parted ways forgetting even to take a photo of the three of us together. Great fun to catch up in person and not on Zoom!

On the way back to our hotel to rest up for our 8:30 PM Opera, we see progress on setup for the Spanish Market this weekend.

Looks like some yummy ‘market’ food in the future – Indian Taco!

Storm clouds in the distance. Santa Fe is in a drought like Florida. An update tomorrow on the opera and hopefully rain.
