Afternoons in Spokane – 14 June 2026

The morning was exploring, this afternoon is a bit more traditional. First off in an Uber to the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture which includes the historic Campbell House. I enjoy wandering these types of museum filled with art and history that the local docents are proud of and waiting to be enjoyed by anyone who visits. This museum is located in Browne’s Addition which is Spokane’s oldest neighborhood filled with “personality and varied architecture.” The tree lines streets are a give away.

The Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture is non-script on the outside. Inside it was filled with interesting, diverse exhibits. European art, Lego (?!) art, history of the USA in all kinds of art, and prehistoric art. It was very enjoyable exploring its unique, eclectic collection museum.

Included in the admission and right next door is the Campbell House and Carriage House. Given to the city by the little girl/daughter who grew up here, it is a classic of this era of wealth. Worth seeing and being amazed at the lavish decor, the indoor plumbing, the well planned out interior, and beautiful wood – everywhere. Amazingly preserved with knowledgeable docents meant to be enjoyed.

Back to the hotel via Uber. Now off for a cocktail at the famous Davenport Hotel’s Peacock Lounge – a tradition for me!

Dinner at Wooden City – hip place around the corner with delicious food and Spokane ambiance (young people!). The day is done! Wonderful!

Tomorrow – onward on our bicycles!
