Woke up this morning to thunder and pouring rain – does not bode well for a bike ride. Breakfast together and everyone in their biking attire is happy the rain stops. We leave in the van to drive to the Piedmont train station to start the last 13.5 miles on the Le P’tit du Nord trail. Posing for photos on this last ride day.

Rain makes everything super lush and heavy with dew. Lucky for us a few morning clouds letting the sun peak out making a mosaic on the trail while riding through the trees. The trail is gravel and not too wet. There are a few sections that have puddles.

It is clear we are coming closer to ‘civilization’ as there are many more people on the trail than the past several days. Yet, we are early enough I only see 6 other bike tire impressions. Nice and quiet to start. On this last section, there are couple of tunnels decorated with graffiti. Fortunately no light needed to ride through because – I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Ha Ha.

About 4 miles from the end of the trail there is a side trail through the woods for hiking. And a little further down, there is a picnic area with a refuge shelter. Here you can walk down to the roaring River du Nord. A very nice way to experience the nature of the Laurentians this last morning before arriving at the end of the trail and city. Life again.

Cruising to the end of the trail behind Frank. Paul is already there. I am able to have photo taken of me under the Le P’tit du Nord sign to prove I made it!

There is a train station, a clock tower, a restaurant, and a large parking lot which turns out is for regular commuters who take a train into the city of Montreal. There are plaques in the pavement identifying the different cities along the Le P’tit du Nord trail and what side of the river they are on.

We can see a church in the short distance with a silver roof – it looks beautiful. AI helps me identify it.

Cathédrale de l’Assomption (Trois-Rivières Cathedral)
Location: Trois-Rivières, Quebec
Architectural Style: Neo-Gothic
Notable Features: Silver-colored roofs and steeples, large bell towers, and Roman Catholic heritage.
We finally find our guide Jim who is waiting for us with the van and trailer. Bikes are loaded and now we will head back to the hotel for a shower and lunch. Sandra takes a group pix before we leave.

A nice conclusion to a wonderful bike trip! Now we are off to the city of Montreal for a couple of days. We are staying at the Le Mont Stephen. Another adventure begins!

so interesting
