Montreal Bike Tour – Day 2 – 6 July 2025

Arise and shine early to meet up with the Van to shuttle us to the starting point of our ride on the Le P’tit du Nord Trail. Its a good group, everyone is on time. After the Van reaches the trail head, time to fit our bikes, test them, gather a helmet, water bottle filled with water, and some snacks. Sandra provides an overview of the days ride.

At the trail head is an old train station for Saint-Laurier. Cute little train sits alongside the station. A gazebo is a nice place to sleep if you’ve been riding the trail or possibly are homeless?!

Finally started down the trail at 9:15 am. The trail is beautiful. Lined with forests of different trees, wild flowers, ferns and moss. It is also well marked.

The restrooms are actually nice for outhouses and cute. The rest stops are buildings that look like cabooses. Cute!

We stop for lunch at a picnic area near a dam in Lac-Saguay. All the signs are in French so I have no idea who the statue represents. It looks to me like a Paul Bunyan type.

Back on the trail, we are now riding the 10 miles to our hotel (Golf Nominingue). The hotel is located a short distance off the trail. At the turn off the trail to the hotel, there is a small park and the old train station for Nominingue. A more historic looking hotel is just down the street. Quaint.

We use an app called Ride with GPS. We have used this app before on other bike trips. It shows the amount of elevation and the distances and thankfully restrooms. We finish the ride having completed 35.2 miles or 56.6 km (sounds more impressive!). We have also climbed 1,331 feet in elevation.

We also avoided the rain, only experiencing a few rain drops. There was an optional ride down to a lake that a few people chose to do. They will have to calculate how many miles they rode with the option because I went to my air conditioned room for a shower! I forgot to mention, it was hot and humid and is raining now! The graph below is from my Polar app.

Dinner is at the hotel at 6:30 pm. The reward – food and drink!
