San Diego – 14 June 2025

This is the big event day….not until late afternoon. I’m grateful to have been invited to the wedding and this beautiful resort to stay for a long weekend. It is the essence of California without the drama of California, even though there are protests going on somewhere/all over actually, our country, you would just think it is another beginning of summer day in Southern California.

I was listening to Yacht Rock radio while walking to breakfast and the great California songs were being played. Ventura Highway – a good memory for Steve and I – It never rains in Southern California – Sailing (not technically California, yet right outside my back door there they are enjoying the day on Mission Bay.

Although other familiar tunes – Hotel California and The Last Resort by the Eagles (some favorites) were not played, yet……and still about California. I choose to pretend all is perfect because the weather is awesome – 68-72 degrees with a gentle breeze. In the morning it is dreary, by the afternoon sunny and then tonight it will be cloudy again; Pacific Ocean foggy stuff for those of you who have never been here.

Still it is a perfect weather world…without the California specifics, like this:

Yet, a specific of California is the food. The Breakfast Burrito is absolutely no comparison to Glenridge’s!! LOL!! Their’s are: Massive with Chorizo, Bacon, Cheese, Scrambled Eggs, Potatoes(!) stuffed in a tortilla. This truly is: Food for the day— “No Kings” – and feeling like a Queen eating this at the Tidal Cafe at Paradise Resort.👸 But did you know Jesus is King?🤔

Now, I need to walk like a maniac to burn some calories – this is at 6:30 am because yes, still on Eastern Time and up at 4:00 am.🫩

I actually left Paradise to see what possibilities there were outside of the resort. A nice walk/running/biking trail – that probably goes forever – that I could walk around – are you ready – a “Model Boat Basin.” That’s where I saw the homeless man sleeping which makes sense. Again, cloudy (or is it sea fog) and still a nice walk. It’s early on a Saturday so no people…appreciate that because it seem if I have the world to myself!

Back on property, the Tall Observation Tower is tempting. Having been nursing a knee injury, I climb the 80 steps to the top of tower. A bit disappointing as the view might be nice but because of the “California” crazy laws for safety, there is a railing AND bars so no one will jump?!! Were people jumping? The Tower was built in the 1960s? Who is going to jump when they are staying at a resort? Okay enough speculation. It’s nice to see the surrounding area through bars (kind of). I do an I Spy the Groom and buddies planning to go somewhere👍

Now, relaxing in my room until the Big Event. Enjoying the weather, relaxing (which for a doer, a real challenge!), and watching the world go by with my best friend, Mr. Crow (aka Steve).
