North Carolina – Lake Country – Day 1

The weather in the Lake Toxaway area turned into a Florida Spring day! The temperature climbed to 85 degrees. The trees are loving this weather – the buds are bursting, starting to bring more color to the mountainsides and the flowering trees are in full bloom. Glorious!

A breakfast and lunch at Laura and Dan’s before leaving to drive to Wolf Creek Lake. (Lake Toxaway water levels are still too low for boats.) Ila loves playing with the dogs and running around in the backyard barefoot. Remember those days as a kid?

Wolf Creek Lake is 375 feet deep. The area is owned by Duke Energy. People are allowed to lease the land surrounding the lake. A few homes, some campers, fishermen, kayaking, paddle boarding, and the little “inToxawayted” boat that Dan puts in at the dock while Captain Laura sails out.

The girls love being able to drive the boat and goofing around with Dad.

It’s a relaxing afternoon enjoying sailing around this beautiful lake. Oh, did I mention we also enjoyed some beer!

I’m back in my room at the Greystone Inn until we leave to have dinner out tonight at Grand Olde Station Restaurant.

When we were here last year we enjoyed dinner here on Steve’s birthday. Happy to return!
