Around my county

The weather has been glorious in Florida these past few weeks. Perfect for being outdoors enjoying all the beauty that is Florida. I have written about these places before and shared pictures. Yet, the awe that comes with being out in nature is always worth sharing again.

First, just in my neighborhood is a beautiful wetland lake and pond. Always some Sandhill cranes wandering around, too.

A visit to Historic Spanish Point includes artwork/photography on display; this time they are by Patti Smith. As you walk the trails you’ll enjoy the diverse trees and flowers and catch views of Sarasota Bay. The hurricane damage is not as visible anymore. Even the building housing a display about the orange industry is still standing as are the historical houses on the property.

A beautiful Oak tree hammock exists at Rothenburg Park. A walk on the path provides shade and amazing old trees. Commune with God on this walk, including a cute raccoon peaking out from the woods.

A stop at Scherer-Thaxton Preserve, a place I drive but never stopped. It has been developed further and has some different ways to enjoy nature along side a wetland lake.

These sweet wild flowers are along the trails in the various parks. It’s Spring in Florida!
