The adventure today is to visit the VMFA – Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

It is an excellent, well-planned museum with a variety of styles of art and artists works. The brochure says, “Experience nearly 50,000 works of art, spanning 6,000 years of world history.” The museum is organized by period/era in time and also by continent as well as nice collection of Faberge. A very enjoyable couple of hours and lots of photos in this blog post!

As were these items:

After the museum we drive to The Jefferson Hotel to see their amazing Christmas displays. This hotel would be the place to stay in downtown to experience the southern hospitality and a very merry Christmas it would be!

On the way back, I ask Shirley to drive by of the White House of the Confederacy. It is tucked away between tall medical buildings. I grab a quick pic and am thankful this historical home is still here and tours are available

The Jefferson Davis gravesite is ‘closed’ most likely due to the vandalism that has taken place in this city. It is sad to have never seen the many statues that used to line the street. You can tear down historical statues but you cannot erase history.
There are many more museums to see in Richmond but they will have to wait for another time.
Dinner out with Shirley and her family – a wonderful end to my travels and the gift of time together from my friend.

beautiful!
