Lake Toxaway, NC – 1 August 2024

We planned a trip to meet up with our daughter and her husband at her Aunt Laura and Uncle Dan’s home in Lake Toxaway, North Carolina. With Steve’s treatments, we wanted an opportunity to escape Florida for a few days and spend it with his family.

The last time we were in Lake Toxaway was in October 2021 and their home was completely under renovation.

Everything is finished and it is beautiful! Laura services us a nice lunch outdoors on the new back deck.

There is only room for one couple to stay at Laura and Dan’s home so we are staying at The Greystone Inn.

This historic hotel is exquisite. Everything is well maintained and comfortable inside and out. Our corner room has lovely views of Lake Toxaway. This time of year, the weather and the flowers in bloom are such a wonderful break from Florida. Although the weather has warmed up into the 80’s, which is hot for this mountain area. We are enjoying less humidity and breeze, these temps don’t bother us.

These next pictures of the hotel and grounds will not do justice to express the feelings you have wandering around the property. There is golf, tennis, swimming, boating, paddle boarding, and just relaxing. Spectacular views of the lake and the mountains; this is a perfect vacation getaway.

Last night, we had tickets to see a bluegrass band at a barn/outdoor venue. The temperatures were quite high and a woman passed out from heat and had to be taken away by EMTs. Not something we have ever seen in Florida even though the heat is more extreme! We moved our chairs outside in the shade, on the backside of the stage, which was much cooler than inside the barn. Other than the medical interruption during the event, it was an enjoyable evening of excellent bluegrass.

We ended the evening gathering on the beautiful deck where Lesley, Steve, and Laura talked about family memories. Nice times.
