The whole purpose of the trip to Kerrville, TX was to see the Total Annular Eclipse. While this eclipse was visible in the 48 US states, the band for totality started in Oregon and ended in Texas. The totality here was just under 5 minutes. Thankfully, the sky is totally clear! The temperature though is quite chilly (for Floridians) β 67 degrees with a northerly wind chill.
We watched the eclipse from the hotel pool area along with three other people. The Sculpture garden across the interstate looked very crowded and we could hear the live bands playing occasionally based on the wind direction.

Next are pictures I was able to capture with my iPhone 12 Pro Max using a handheld filter. A few are short videos using time lapse and slo-mo, recommended on the internet. I did capture the ring of fire! It is very cool to look at the ground under shade trees because the small holes in leaves allow the eclipse to display on the ground. With it being a little windy, the movement is very cool. Let me just say, you canβt appreciate the eclipses unless you see them in person. Enjoy the pictures on TV, they are always better than my camera. Next Eclipse Trip will be in April 2024. We will be back in Texas again!

Your video and pictures are cool!! I keep hearing the Johnny Cash song Ring of fire!
Did it get dark as night??

Thanks! It did not get dark as night like a Total Eclipse, however, it got weirdly lit and the birds stopped chirping.

Happy you are following! Love to see you sometime with Elsa. Are you up for some opera next season?

I have only done one opera! It’s always a possibility….to consider. Thanks for asking. I love your trips. When we were in our house we watched the eclipses from our hot tub. It was very dark and gave the best view!
