Columbia/Snake River Trip – 9 August 2023 – Part 1

This morning we rise before sunrise because we aren’t quite time adjusted yet. A trip to the Kate’s Coffee Hut for some good coffee. Breakfast in the hotel and then a morning walk. Temperature 64 degrees and low humidity!! Refreshing, compared to our Florida mornings.

The walk along the Greenbelt Trail and Park has some interesting sights. The beautiful hills across the Snake River show off some wonderful shadows in the morning. The park has native trees and bushes labeled. What’s also fun on the metal sculptures representative of the people in this area.

Further up the Clearwater River you an see the potash/paper mill. A woman on the trail also tells me they have a large bullet factory in town – CCI Ammunition – actually quite respected and well known. Further up the trail, I see an old draw bridge crossing the Snake River, a marina with warning/caution signs and a carved wooden sculpture of the ‘Birds of the Northwest.”

Fun walk this morning, now time to get ready for the big adventure of the day on a boat into Hell’s Canyon!

And amusingly, this truck was parked behind our hotel. I haven’t seen one of these in Florida recently!
