The Casita we are staying in for the next month is perfect. It has all the amenities we need and it is quite private. It is tucked away behind another casita on a quiet residential street just 4 blocks from the Plaza. Thanks to Adobestar Properties for the recommendation for this unit.
First things first, walk to Starbucks, take a few pictures here and there, pick-up opera tickets at will call, visit the visitor center and stop at the grocery store for miscellaneous items. The weather is wonderful – temperature of 54 in the morning and warming up to 85 by noon. A little bit of heaven.
Amazing art everywhere and some very old trees making art!
St. Francis Cathedral glowing in the sunrise.
Lavender is in bloom (even in the parking lot at the opera) and there was rain last night so things are fairly green for the high desert.
The outside of the Opera House is interesting although inside is spectacular and the mountain are just off in the distance.
Tonight’s Opera
There is a music festival this weekend and the visitor center woman provides us with some discount passes. Labor Day weekend is another festival where they have their version of the burning man. He appears to be hanging around at the visitor’s center until then!
This afternoon, laundry and a siesta to prepare us for the 3 1/2 hour opera tonight. The altitude here is 7,200 feet, drinking lots of water and adjust slowly.
Just a small taste of Santa Fe with many more pictures to come over the next month at our Black Mesa Casita.
