Hawaii Post Hurricane Lane 2018

This morning – Saturday, August 25 – the Hurricane is now a Tropical Storm and is pretty far west out in the ocean. The only impact is the rain here (on Oahu). The winds are fairly calm, a few gusts but not much more. The Big Island – Hawaii – is still experiencing all the rain – almost 50 inches. Thankful no one is injured on any of the islands just lots of flooding.

The pictures of the flooding at the Twin Falls on Maui are incredible. We were there two years ago and it was a trickle, now its a torrent from the Hurricane rains.

One of the mayors of a city on the island of Hawaii, thanked a dormant volcano in the northeast quadrant of the island, Mauna Kea, for dissipating the storm. Maybe we should thank Maui’s beautiful dormant volcano in the Haleakala National Park.

The other reports were of how many containers were expected to be unloaded today at the port and the name of the cruise ship that would be coming in too.

All airports are open and that is where we are heading to pickup Lesley and family. Let the real vacation begin!
