Next stop on my Sunday touring is the Koreshan State Park. By now, the rain is coming down in buckets but I am not deterred. One advantage, no one is at the Entrance Gate so you just drive in and have the entire place to yourself. Due to the inclement weather, my exploring was limited. Yet, my curiosity did get me out of my car to walk a little of the National Historic District within the park.
The land was donated by a religious sect known as the Koreshan. The sign summarizes what you need to know.

It’s a large tract of land. There are eleven buildings on the property restored and representing the way of life from 1882 to 1920. My short walk took me to look at only those in the near area to the parking lot. It really looks like a lovely historic museum. There are two short trails on the property which I was hoping to walk. Not today even with my hiking boots on!
This gallery of pictures will give you an idea of what you can see. The signs are also informative and definitely describe this religious sects unusual way of life. I will be coming back to this park someday to learn more, possibly the guided tour!
