The next several blog posts are telling the tale of my Sunday meandering to the Naples/Ft. Myers/Estero area to explore four of Florida State Parks. Unfortunately, it is pouring rain for most of the morning so exploring is a loose term.
First stop was Estero Bay Preserve State Park. My GPS took me first to the most northern section of the park where there was no entry just a nice sign. I did discover the park entrance on my way to the next park.

This park has four trails you can walk through the scrubland near the Estero River. Since it was raining, I just enjoyed the peace and quiet under a shelter looking at the scrubland. This area is also part of the Great Florida Birding Trail. No birds in sight today. Gopher turtle sign, no turtles.

When you drive the road to the park entry, along the left side are many housing developments. It is nice the State of Florida preserved this native area. A serene place to visit and definitely would be worthwhile during the winter season when the birds are plentiful.
