Blue Springs State Park – 27 November 2024

Central Florida truly is “the real Florida.” Many different parks and preserves along various waterways. The main river in this area is the St. John’s River. Plenty of interesting places to see along this river and Blue Springs State Park is definitely one to visit. During the Spring, Summer and early Fall, people come here to swim in the warm water. In the Winter, the Manatees come here to swim. There is also the Thursby home furnished with period items from the time when they settled along the Blue Springs. Tours are available.

Fortunately, it is not too busy today.

You can see quite a few Manatees from viewing areas along the boardwalk that runs along the Blue Springs Run. The water is quite clear and the Manatees are easy to see when they swim to come up for air. Lots of different sizes along the springs run.

The swim area is roped off. You can rent kayaks and take tours.

There are also boat tours leaving from here that cruise on the St. John’s River. I might come back and take one of these tours. Such a serene, natural area worth seeing more of from the water.
