Last evening we had a lovely view of the industry across the Mississippi river. The sun was quite blazing and we were saved by a little cloud!

Our ship sailed away at 1 AM and sailed to where we dock this morning at Vacherie. From the ship, Vacherie seems like a very small town with a Ford dealership, a church, and sugar cane fields. The weather is now steamy, hot Louisiana style.

On the opposite side of the river are grain elevators and a row of parked barges known as a fleet waiting to be assembled, loaded, and transported on the river.

Today, I chose to do two excursions. Coming up next!
