Writing this early on May 30 as the cruise ship the American Serenade rolls down the Mississippi River. It’s a beautiful ship only one year old. 150 passengers on this trip and we sailed through the night from Memphis heading to Vicksburg to dock around Noon. I’ll be able to get a better picture when we dock later today. This picture is when we were boarding.

The lecture yesterday was introducing us to the amazing Mississippi River, natural world, history, and shipping. Detailed lectures start today with a talk all about Towboats. They actually push but have a long history as well. More in next blog post.

As we sail down the Mississippi River, others are sailing up. The lecturer told us about an app/website where you can identify the ships/barges as they pass by. Very cool – MarineTraffic.com. This screenshot is from yesterday and there we are!

The staff are fun, very service-orientated, and the interior of the ship is beautiful.

We are happy to be cruising again!
