Today, we will be boarding the American Cruise Lines ship American Harmony to cruise the Columbia Snake River for 7 days. Before departing, we take a helicopter tour up of the Snake River and surrounding area. Quite a different view from the air.

Incredible scenic vistas, rocky gorges, Blue Mountains the Snake River, Salmon River and other creeks and rivers that enter into the Snake. We are able to see the Palouse National Forest also. This first picture is in Lewiston – the harvested wheat being stacked up because they have run out of storage facilities. They cover it with tarps after stacking it – still coming in.

We see some of the sights from yesterday but from the air – houses along the river, creeks, interesting geology, an Elk herd resting and the brown muddy water of the Salmon River coming into the Snake.

On the way back, we fly over the area where the crops are grown referred to as the Palouse.

Truly breathtaking scenery and a fun ride as well. Time to board our ship!
