Viking Homelands – Day 2, Bergen

Sleeping after traveling for 30 plus hours is always great! Rise and shine at 6 AM and off to the Fitness Center for a bike ride. Then we enjoy breakfast in ‘The Restaurant,’ the main dining room. Our tour today does not start until 12:30 pm so we have the morning to explore the ship and relax. Since many people are leaving on excursions this morning, the ship is quiet. The temperature today is 47 going up to 57 – bbbrrrr.

The Viking Spa is smaller than many ships we’ve been on but has fun experiences. The cold plunge, sauna, steam room, and the snow room right near the hot pool and whirlpool. Definitely I will be experiencing this spa!

This ship is smaller than most we’ve been on. One mile on the promenade deck is 4 times around. The only seating on the promenade deck is at the front of the ship. At the back of this ship is the World Cafe which also has outdoor seating area and a hot tub and infinity pool. Some people were in the hot tub last night, no one is or was swimming. Its cold! There is a sports deck on the top with outdoor games and you can see the retractable roof for the main pool and ‘winter’ garden room.

The Bergen harbor is quite busy. Ships passing by us day and night. This morning a tour is leaving on a large sailboat. These folks are going to be cold!

Bergen Harbor

After lunch we will leave for our tour of Bergen. Overheard people this morning talking about the train from Oslo to Bergen and how beautiful it was traveling through the mountains. They said there is a lot of snow still on the mountains. Wonder what we will see today?
